Information Masterclass Seminar
In the frame of the 36th International Choral Festival of Preveza a seminar for choral conductors will be held in Preveza from 3rd to 5th July 2018.
The topics of the seminar are:
Conducting technique with an emphasis on choral conducting,
Intonation in choir,
Interpretation of various musical styles,
Group vocal technique,
Organization of the rehearsals,
Vocal technique
Score analysis
Conducting exercises
Individual preparation of the scores with active participants
Presentation of new choral works from Slovenia (interesting also for composers)
The schedule of the masterclass includes:
Tuesday, July 3rd
9:00 – 13:00 Lectures along with practical work: Conducting technique - exercises for active and passive participants (with piano).
15:00 – 19:00 Masterclass with the demonstrative ensemble (active participants are conducting, while the passive ones are observing and rehearsing / learning).
20:00 – 22:00 Individual lessons for active participants
Wednesday, July 4th
9:00 – 13:00 Lectures along with practical work
15:00 – 19:00 Masterclass with the demonstrative ensemble (active participants are conducting, while the passive ones are observing and rehearsing / learning).
20:00 – 22:00 Video evaluation of conducting of the active participants
Thursday, July 5th
9:00 – 11:00 Lectures along with practical work
11:00 – 13:00 Masterclass with the demonstrative ensemble (active participants are conducting, while the passive ones are observing and rehearsing / learning).
15:00 – 17:00 Individual consults to participants.

20:00 Concert - Opening Ceremony of 36th ICF of Preveza.
From Friday, 6th July 2018 to Sunday, 8th July 2018, the participants will have the opportunity to attend the 36th ICF of Preveza, in the frames of which the 24th international Choral Competition of Music will take place, but also to meet and discuss with conductors of the participating choirs, while the organizing committee of the festival will provide them with any kind of material they might need.
The seminar is addressed to choir conductors, instructors who conduct choirs as well as students attending music studies and students attending Music Schools- Conservatories who get involved with choir (conducting).
The Seminar will be led by the internationally renowned conductors Ambrož Čopi and Theodora Pavlovitch. A lot of time and special attention will be given to practical work with a demonstrative choir; the demonstrative ensemble will be the Academic Choir of the University of Primorska.
The seminar is intended for beginners as well as established choral conductors. Participation can be active or passive. Participants who wish to be active are kindly asked to send their CV with specified experiences in choir conducting.
Participation fee for active participants: 120€
Participation fee for passive participants: 80€
